Who We Are:
El Caldito is a community based volunteer organization, with 2 part-time employees (a kitchen manager and a custodian). Dedicated volunteers perform all the tasks necessary in a kitchen to process and store food, prepare and serve meals, and clean up afterwards.
We are a Grade A food service establishment.
History: El Caldito Soup Kitchen has been collecting food and providing meals for the homeless and the poverty-afflicted population of Las Cruces and its surrounding rural communities for more than 26 years. It was founded January 1984, offering a mid-day meal twice a week. The kitchen was relocated to its present dedicated facility in 1998. In 2004, services were expanded to 5 days a week. The program was further enhanced in December 2004 to provide a carry-out sack lunch on Saturday and in early 2010, Sunday lunch was added..
